Pico Vault User Guide

Welcome to your QT Bits Pico Vault™ and congratulations for taking control of your personal security. This guide will help you set up and navigate your Pico Vault™.

Connecting your Pico Vault™ to a deviceConnect the USB cable to the Pico Vault ™ and the other end of the cable to your mobile phone or your computer. You may need to use the USB-A adaptor when connecting to some computers.

Top right button goes forward to the next screen.
Touching in the entry area shows the keyboard.



Keyboard Touch and drag the keyboard either left/right or up/down to access all of the keys. The keyboard [abc] / [ABC] switches between uppercase and lowercase letters. The [123] switches to numeric and special character entry
OnboardingWhen connected, the Pico Vault™ will power on and take you through the onboarding process.
1. Scroll by using your finger to touch and drag along the touch screen to get to the bottom of the page. Confirm that you are ready to proceed.

2. A Master Key for the Pico Vault™ will be generated. This Master Key is generated at random and is unique to your Pico Vault™. This is not visible to anyone but you. Please take note: The Master Key is critical for recovery. If anything happens to your Pico Vault™ you will be able to use the Master Key and your most recent backup to start using your passwords and keys again. Write this number down and store it in a secure location.

3. Set up a PIN. Once a PIN is set up it will be required to unlock access to any of the features of the Pico Vault™. Please take note: After 10 incorrect PIN attempts the Pico Vault™ will erase all stored passwords, keys and configuration. This is a security feature in case unauthorised access.

4. Set up a Password Group – see next step below.
Password GroupsTo begin using your first password you will need to create at least one Password Group.

Groups organise your passwords for easy access. For example, you may like to create a top-level group for personal passwords and another top level group for work passwords. Groups can be nested. You may choose to have a personal (top-level group) and within that group have a number of sub-groups.
Adding your own existing passwords into the Pico Vault™If you want to import your own existing passwords into the Pico Vault™, follow this step. If you want to generate and save a new unique password, see the ‘Generate a password’ step below.

1. Navigate to the group/sub-group that you want the password item to be located

2. Select ‘Add password’

3. Enter the title for the password

4. Select an icon to associate with this password

5. Enter the password using the keyboard.

Please note: manual passwords have a character limit of 119 characters.
Generating a unique password into the Pico Vault™If you want to generate and save a new unique password, follow this step. If you want to import your own existing passwords into the Pico Vault™, follow the step above.
Generated passwords can have up to 200 characters. These are unique and ultra-secure.

1. Navigate to the group/sub-group that you want the password item to be located

2. Select ‘Generate password’

3. Enter the title for the password

4. Select an icon to associate with this password

5. Select the minimum number of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits (numbers), special characters (!@#$%^&*() and the desired length.
Settings[System info]
This displays the device serial number and storage information.

[Setup Wi-Fi]
Here you can scan for local Wi-Fi access points and configure the settings to connect to a Wi-Fi access point. A Wi-Fi connection is required to perform a device upgrade.

[Upgrade]
Selecting [Upgrade] will attempt to connect to Wi-Fi and then check for a new software version. If there is a new version, it will download and install the new version.

[Api]
(Application Programming Interface) This item enables the Api service on the device. For details on using the Api please contact support@qtbits.com

[Screen Lock]
This setting configures the time that the device stays unlocked before locking and requiring the PIN to unlock.

[Screen Brightness]
The screen can be set to the preferred brightness level.

[Keyboard Size]
The on-screen keyboard size can be adjusted for personal preference.

[Set PIN]
This enables a new PIN to be set for device unlock.

[New Master Key]
This page generates a new Master Key. If applied, all configured generated passwords will change accordingly.

[Restore Master Key]
This page allows the Master Key to be manually entered. This is used to clone or restore passwords. The Master Key and a password backup is required to perform a full restore.

[Delete keys]
This setting deletes all stored FIDO2 resident keys.

[Factory reset]
This setting performs a complete factory reset – deleting all settings, configuration and passwords.
